West Footscray, coffee culture fueling property prices

We sat down with Leigh McCrabb in his busy little cafe Brother Nancy in West Footscray the other week to chat about the importance of cafe culture in city suburbs. Leigh’s cafe is only a few years old and has built a surrounding community of food and coffee loving locals. There is a real need in suburbs to have a meeting place, somewhere you know the names of the staff and feel at ease for a family catch-up or a business meeting.

A suburb with a good cafe culture will regularly see an increase in house prices sometimes as much as 75% in 5 years which is what West Footscray, located just 15 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD has seen. Brother Nancy cafe undoubtedly has a lot to do with that developed growth.

So what makes a good cafe? See our latest Neesh Knows interview to find out.
